Myriad, Sepia join for 'Partition'
Pic to begin lensing in May

TORONTO -- Myriad PicturesMyriad Pictures and Canada's Sepia Films have inked a deal to produce India-set epic romance "Partition," starring Jimi Mistry ("Touch of Pink," "The Guru") and Kristin KreukKristin Kreuk ("Smallville").
Director is Vic Sarin; Christopher Zimmer of Halifax-based imX Communications will exec produce the Canada/U.K./South Africa co-production. It's the second project for Santa Monica-based Myriad and imX, which worked together on "The River King," now in post.
"Partition" refers to the tumultuous period when Pakistan was created from India at the end of the British Raj in 1947. A Sikh man who quits the British Indian Army for a quieter life finds his world turned upside down after he becomes responsible for a traumatized 17-year-old Muslim girl.
Story is inspired by the experiences of Kashmir-born Sarin's family. He penned the script with Patricia Finn.
Pic will begin lensing in May in India, London and South Africa.
Sales in all territories excluding Canada are handled by Myriad. Seville Pictures Canada is handling the Great White North.
