I just got back from Morocco where I was shooting a 2-part mini-series of Ben Hur. Honestly one of my favorite production experiences in my career… Content was rad, Director was really skilled, location was great (if a bit toasty and dry), and the cast and crew were so truly amazing. There ia a lot I could talk about, but I am not sure you want to know every detail, so I am going to make a list and then tell you a few things in detail…

Cool and not-so-cool things about Ben Hur/Morocco:

* I don’t think camels are happy. But I do find them funny and scary in equal parts. The Chewbacca noises are funny in the middle of a take… (Not so funny when you are trying to make a day and your actresses can’t stop laughing.) But scary when you are riding them or near their faces. Camels are also probably the ugliest creatures I have been so close to.
* If you do not eat meat, Moroccon food is not very appealing. If you eat meat, it looks really tasty.
* Production design on this is frikking AMAZING!
* Emily VanCamp is probably the most intelligent and interesting young actress I have met… She is 23 and has what I think is rare in us young folk… actually it is just rare period… She is actively interested in responsibility and accountability! I love that.
* I do not understand British pop culture or references.
* Stars viewed from the Sahara with friends are really spectacular.
* My judgement is flawed. There are people of great beauty covered in mannerisms or skins that I have boxed up and never taken the time to know. To think of all the new people I can experience! I imagine all these parts of myself that I have shied away from.
* I like acting. I like challenges. So fun! I also love that I got to work with such well trained and skilled actors. Alex Kingston played my mother, and she rocks my socks. Really an incredible woman.
* Extensions suck. Like they are really NOT fun.
* It is really hot in the desert. And there is a lot of dust that likes to pool in your lungs and leave you hacking for a week or two."

If you all remember, Kristin and Allison Mack were working on a project titled Juicy Peach, a not-for-profit gallery and store to support the creation of more art. Allison has recently posted a blog on her official site AllisonMack.com explaining what has happened with the project:
