B.C.'s Kristin Kreuk of hit TV show Smallville is another. The articulate 25-year-old is just months from launching an Internet project called Girls By Design, which is intended to help build young women's self esteem by engaging them in their communities and giving them a platform to express how they feel on issues ranging from body image to peer pressure.
"I think the entire culture is looking for a change, and a lot of the younger girls I talk to are passionate about helping make that change," says Kreuk, a native of Vancouver. "They're not apathetic; they want to go out and do something with their lives.
