Question: She's in an American soap, but she comes from South America?
Gail: She (Paula Garcés) was born in Colombia and moved to New York City when she was young. We had a search going in South America, in Mexico, in Chicago, in Texas, and in New York. She came in and read and put on tape at the MTV studios in New York, they sent the tapes to our casting directors, and they looked at hundreds of tapes and submitted maybe thirty for us to look at. We chose five and in fact, one of them was Kristin Kreuk who stars in "Smallville." She was another one of the finalists. We re-tested the finalists opposite Jesse and they had the best chemistry.
